Well, we have successfully arrived in Kolkata (Calcutta), and found accommodation for the night. We are quite satisfied to have achieved so much! Ahhh, back on the road when finding a decent room, and a good meal is a major accomplishment.
Our adjustment to India has been helped along by our stay in Thailand. Because we were growing accustomed to the heat and humidity of Bangkok, and already in a neighbouring time zone, we feel that the adjustment has been a little bit easier than if we had come directly from Canada in the middle of winter!
Or maybe it was the fact that we got bumped into first class on our flight here...fresh fruit juice in real, squeaky clean glasses, an assorted fruit platter on gold edged china dishes, and crepes to finish off our (ahem...second) breakfast. This is the first time in my life that I was wishing for a longer flight. Three hours of unexpected luxury is not nearly enough :) ...but it definitely helped with our introduction to India.
