Bangkok, Thailand
Being off the tourist trail for the last two weeks really gave us the chance to experience true Thai hospitality. We knew that the nearest city to the farm was Buriram, so we arrived in that city, unsure what the next step would be. We were soon adopted by a Thai English teacher who helped us make phone calls to the farm, took us for dinner, showed us to a great hotel, and arranged for her friend to drive us the 40 km to the farm on the appropriate day. She really went out of her way to make us feel special and well taken care of during our stay in her city. I hope we will be able to be so hospitable when we have our home in Canada.
Well, we are back in the hub of activity again. We had to extend our stay in Buriram for a couple extra days as Steve fought intensly with his intestines. He now seems to be winning the battle with the help of some antibiotics we have on hand.
It looks like we will be staying in Bangkok until at least next Wednesday, until we find out a bit more about a possible volunteer opportunity.
