Beach Days

Mui Ne, Vietnam

Mui Ne is also host to numerous hotels and resorts. Unfortunately, I feel that I must always find the best value room. Regardless of where we are, I want to see all the competing hotels to ensure that ours is the nicest in our price range. Usually this means looking at two, three, maybe four hotels, and often changing hotels for our second night in any particular location (because invariably there is something better). Here there was the added stress of finding a place that is nice enough that we wouldn't be depressed at not being with friends and family over Christmas. I can tolerate a dank, dark room with questionable plumbing sometimes...but this kind of room does little for homesickness during the holidays.

Our price range increased for this week. The Sunny Beach Resort and Yacht Club is our home. We have a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning, very nice, comfortable and clean room, and a beautiful pool just steps from the beach. (The only thing that slightly resembles a yacht though is the old fishing boat that acts as a flower planter)!

We arrived at the beach town of Mui Ne on Wednesday afternoon after a 12 hour night bus immediately followed by a 5 hour morning bus. Mui Ne is a popular destination for kite surfers and windsurfers, so there is plenty of entertainment on the water and lots of fit tourists.

We miss not being around for the Christmas preparations, and the visiting with family and friends.
