Family has arrived

Alajuela, Costa Rica - My sister (Kyla) and her husband (Shawn) and two boys (Joel age 3 and Ben age 1) have joined us for the next 3 weeks here in Costa Rica. We are very excited about this next leg of our journey. Travelling with kids is a very different experience and we´re looking forward to looking through their eyes a little bit as we travel. Today we are heading out to a national park on the Carribean coast to swim in the ocean, see some monkeys, and hopefully take a chocolate tour.

Since our last post we´ve had a couple more "adventures" including another vehicle breakdown. In this instance it was Mary´s horse tripping on some flat ground sending her into an acrobatic summersault over the horses head. Thankfully the only injury was a scraped elbow. I have only myself to blame for my own bumps and bruises. I have been wearing a ball cap most of the time and when terrain is rough and I keep my eyes on my footing I often run into things that I can´t see coming because of my hat. Getting clubbed in the head with a cactus and bounding head first into trees is not my favorite pasttime.

We spent a couple days in North West Costa Rica before coming to the capital. The highlights were a few hikes to visit boiling mud pots and waterfall lagoons and renting a scooter for a day to drive along the coast sampling various beaches.

Thanks for following along with us on our adventures!
