Out of NAFTA

Orange Walk - Belize I was thinking today how nice it would be to be in Edmonton on a cool fall day. (That's for you Joel)
We've left a part of Mexico that probably wasn't too indicative of Mexico as a whole. It was very tourist friendly along the coast. Here in Belize things are quite different. We knew we were in for it when our bus to Belize pulled up to the terminal. Mexican regional buses are big air conditioned Mercedes coaches. The bus to Belize was an old school bus with all the windows down.
I was just getting used to greeting people in Spanish and here they speak English and Creole.
The people here are very friendly. We've received many hellos and howyadoins as we walk down the street.
Chinese food restaurants are everywhere. Last night we had pineapple chicken and pork chow mein. It was a nice change from corn tortillas (Joel I don't know how you do it).
Tomorrow we're going to take a boat ride down the river to an ancient Mayan city in the jungle. Apparently the trip is just as worthwhile as the destination.
