Chiang Mai - Thailand
-We continue to enjoy a pretty relaxed pace of life here in Chiang Mai. We discovered a climbing wall in town earlier this week but as luck would have it, it has been down for repairs or cleaning or something. Maybe tomorrow?
-We found a hotel with a great pool that sure helps beat the heat on a +30 degree afternoon although the iced coffees don't hurt either.
-Mary was thinking of taking a 2 day foot massage course and so we decided to try it out first. My massage was fine but Mary's left her with some pretty nasty bruises. I think they went a little overboard and she dropped the idea of taking that course.
-I took a one hour Thai language class. Just enough to intimidate me. Thai is a tonal language with lots of monosyllabic words whose meanings can change depending on the tone with which you use them. It's crazy. One fun sound in the Thai language is the ng sound. If you are not in a public place, or don't care what people might think of you try saying ngong. Think of the pronunciation in the word bring and you should be able to get it.
-We got invited to a weekly team trivia event at a local pub. It was a lot of fun and very competitive. The trivia was pretty tough as it draws from a pretty global range of cultures. European music, strange foreign sports like Rugby, and movies from before I was born were some of the topics covered.
